My passion for motorsport and cars has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. After spending years as a spectator at numerous events, I found myself wondering how I could get more involved with the action. The answer came in 2019, when I attended a taster day at the Mini Festival at Brands Hatch, and it was love at first sight. That day, I discovered the world of motorsport marshalling, and my life hasn’t been the same since.
To my surprise, the dedicated people in orange around the racetrack weren’t full-time circuit workers, as I had always assumed. Instead, they were volunteers—people like you and me who share a deep love for motorsport and want to be part of the event in a meaningful way. Anyone can become a motorsport marshal; it’s as simple as registering your interest and attending a taster day, just as I did.
Since that unforgettable first experience, I’ve marshalled at hundreds of events, continuously learning and growing with each race. It’s been a privilege to witness motorsport up close from a completely new perspective, all while playing a vital role in ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the event. I’ve also progressed to become a fully licensed Grade 1 Race Marshal, accredited by Motorsport UK, which allows me to marshal at FIA national and international sanctioned events such as Formula 1, Le Mans, the World Endurance Championship (WEC), and more. This has been a truly rewarding journey of personal growth and increased responsibility.
Below are some photos of me in action, captured by professional photographers and spectators alike. These moments represent the incredible experiences I’ve had on the other side of the fence, not as a spectator, but as part of the team that makes it all happen.
